ABOUT US
Soshanguve Animal Shelter and Educentre NPC is a non profit organisation focused on rescuing dogs in distress in Soshanguve, and educating the Soshanguve community about animal welfare.
We aim to get the community and children involved in animal welfare, and we promote responsible pet ownership.
Children are encouraged to learn about the needs of animals and the valuable bonds between humans and pets.
We aim to help every dog that needs to be rescued and educate every child about the need to take good care of animals and also how to help animals that are in need.
Through various campaigns such as Walk The Dog, Hero of the Month, Make a Feeling and Youth Debates we continue to reach children and animals and encourage the need for open talk around animal care, facts and misconceptions.
Soshanguve Animal Shelter and Educentre NPC functions only because of kind donations of money, items and time. We are a purely non profit organisation and therefore rely solely on your kindness. There are many ways you can support us through volunteering, donations or sponsorship.
Every bit helps: we incur costs such as fuel, insurance, minor repairs, rent, stipends for volunteers, salary for workers, water, vet bills and dog food. Note we are a PBO charity and offer 18a certificate (Upon request) after donations.
WE NEED YOUR HELP
There are many ways in which you can help our rescued dogs. We are entirely dependent on donations and you can Sponsor, Donate, Volunteer, Adopt or Foster.
Animals living in townships in South Africa are often subjected to poor living conditions, lack of access to basic healthcare, and limited resources for their wellbeing. This is particularly true for dogs and cats, which are the most commonly owned pets in these areas.
Despite the challenges they face, animals in townships are an integral part of the community, and supporting them can have a positive impact not only on their lives but also on the people who care for them.
At Soshanguve Animal Shelter and Educare, we aim to rescue and educate, so that the lives of animals and people in the community can be improved by mutual wellbeing.
